Dirk Richter is a swimmer who has competed for East Germany and Germany. He competed at the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympic Games.
Richter started his Olympic career as a member of the East German team in 1988, claiming a bronze in the 4x100 metres freestyle relay. When Germany reunified four years later in Barcelona, he continued his podium streak by adding a second bronze to his career haul in the same race with his teammates Mark Pinger, Christian Tröger, and Steffen Zesner. On the individual side, Richter swam the backstroke double (100 and 200) at both editions but failed to attain a single medal in any of his races.
