David Davies is a swimmer who has competed for Great Britain.
He competed at the 2004, 2008, and 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
Davies started his Olympic career strongly at Athens 2004 when he snatched the bronze with a British record time (14:45.95) in the 1500 metres freestyle. Four years later in Beijing, he led almost the entire race by six body lengths in the first men's open water marathon at the Games, but he drifted offline at the closing stages and soon missed out a gold from Maarten van der Weijden by 1.5 seconds. The feat made Davies the first swimmer to ever win Olympic medals each at both the pool and the open water.
