Charles Champaud (Bulgarian: Шарл Шампо), also spelled Sharl Shampov (Шарл Шампов), was a Swiss gymnast. He represented Bulgaria at the First 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens.[1] Champaud won the vault event, earning Bulgaria the first two points, and placed fifth in parallel bars, vault, and pommel horse events.[2]

Champaud, a Swiss gymnastics teacher, represented Bulgaria at the first modern Olympics, making Bulgaria frequently included in the participant nations list.[3]

Charles Champaud significantly contributed to the introduction of football in Bulgaria, bringing the sport to Sofia in 1895. The first football game in Bulgaria was organized in Varna in 1894 by Georges de Regibus, a Swiss teacher.
