Catherine Plewinski has competed for France Catherine Plewinski has won 2 bronze medals at the Olympic Games

Catherine Plewinski is a swimmer who has competed for France. She competed at the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympic Games.

Plewinski was widely regarded as the top female French swimmer through the late 1980s and early 1990s. At her first Olympics in 1988, she landed on the podium with a surprising bronze over Manuela Stellmach in the women's 100 metres freestyle, finishing behind the runner-up Zhuang Yong and winner Kristin Otto by 0.02 of a second.

Four years later in Barcelona, Plewinski returned to her second Games with another astounding outcome. In the 100 metres butterfly, she came from behind at the final turn to pass the Chinese swimmer Wang Xiaohong near the wall for the second bronze of her career by nine hundredths of a second (0.09). She aimed to add another medal in the freestyle treble (50-100-200) but missed the podium in any of her races by less than a full second.
