Carlos Abaunza is a track and field athlete who has competed for Nicaragua. He competed at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games.
Despite being born in Costa Rica, he was one of two track and field athletes representing Nicaragua in 2004 together with Dalila Rugama, as well as the only male athlete. He was set to compete in the 100 metres and 200 metres sprint, but only participated in the former event. He was the second-youngest sprinter in the ninth heat of the 100 metres behind Daniel Bailey, but came last with a time of 11.17, 0.74 seconds behind Gennadiy Chernovol as the last qualifier from his heat. In total, he was ranked 71st in the heats as the fastest Nicaraguan athlete at the 100 metres at the Olympic Games ever.
