Venues[]
The events of the Olympic Games in 2032 are planned to be hosted in three main regions in Queensland, Australia. The main zone of the big event is the Brisbane Zone, with twenty-one venues, centered around the city centre. Other venue zones are the Gold Coast, with seven venues, and the Sunshine Coast, with four venues. Football matches are also hosted in Toowoomba, Townsville, Cairns, Sydney, and Melbourne.
Many venues will be repurposed or reused, such as the Brisbane Cricket Ground hosting the athletics competitions, and the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre hosting table tennis, badminton, fencing, and taekwondo. Other noteworthy locations and venues are the Victoria Park hosting cycling BMX freestyle and equestrian cross-country, and the Cultural Forecourt hosting the archery competitions. Four of five venues in the Gold Coast Zone were also used at the Commonweath Games in 2018. The venues of the football matches refer back to the past Olympic cities Melbourne and Sydney, as well as opening up a connection to the Great Barrier Reef near Cairns.
Queensland will also host multiple Olympic Villages, with average travel times of less than twenty minutes for the competing athletes. Four Villages are distributed to Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, and Kooralbyn, with all build projects being in line with the long-term plans of the region.
Many Olympic venues are also planned to be reused for the Paralympic Games, including twelve venues in Brisbane, five venues in Gold Coast, and one venue in Sunshine Coast.
Sports[]
The 2032 Summer Olympic program initially features 28 sports, with a few sports having the opportunity to be added to the program. Sixteen out of twenty-eight sports have been hosted in Australia in the twenty years before hosting the Olympic Games, including the Commonwealth Games in 2018, the cycling world championships in 2010, 2012, 2017, 2022, and 2026, the football women's World Cup in 2023, and the Australian Open of tennis. A few new disciplines will be continued from Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028, such as kitesurfing, with the inclusion of candidate sports pending.
