Basketball at the 1996 Summer Olympics was held from 20 July to 4 August 1996 at the Morehouse College Gymnasium with the medal rounds contested at the Georgia Dome.

For the first time, both men and women played in the round-robin format with six teams in each of the two groups, as the women's field was expanded to 12 teams.
