The women's javelin throw of Athletics 2024 during the 2024 Summer Olympics was held on 7–10 August 2024 in the Stade de France. With 32 athletes competing, the event was won by Haruka Kitaguchi from Japan, with Jo Ane van Dyk from South Africa taking the silver medal and Nikola Ogrodnikova from Czech Republic taking bronze.
Format[]
The competition exists out of two separate rounds. In the qualification, each competitor gets three attempts to throw a javelin as far as possible. After three attempts, the twelve best performance advance to the final, including athletes tied for twelfth place. In the final, the qualified athletes once again get three attempts to reach as far as possible, but contrary to the qualification, the eight best-placed athletes get another three attempts. The athlete with the farthest throw wins the event.
