The men's marathon of Athletics 2024 during the 2024 Summer Olympics was held on 10 August 2024 in the Hotel de Ville and Invalides. With 81 athletes competing, the event was won by Tamirat Tola from Ethiopia, with Bashir Abdi from Belgium taking the silver medal and Benson Kipruto from Kenya taking bronze.

Format

The competition exists out of a single race, in which all competitors conduct a course of 42195 metres. The competitor with the fastest time is the winner of the event.

Eighty-one athletes qualified for the event with Eliud Kipchoge as the man to beat. The two-time defending champion recently ran the marathon out-of-competition within 2 hours and won the London Marathon no fewer than four times.
