The men's 400 metre hurdles of Athletics 2024 during the 2024 Summer Olympics was held on 5–9 August 2024 in the Stade de France. With 39 athletes competing, the event was won by Rai Benjamin from United States, with Karsten Warholm from Norway taking the silver medal and Alison dos Santos from Brazil taking bronze.

Format[]

The competition exists out of four rounds, each with races of up to eight athletes. In the opening round, the top two with the fastest time advance to the semifinal. The rest of the athletes have another chance for the remaining spots through the new repechage round. In the semifinal round, the top two with the fastest time advance to the final, together with a number of fastest non-qualifiers. The fastest competitor in the final is the winner of the event.

Thirty-nine athletes qualified for the event with world record holder and defending Olympic champion Karsten Warholm, world number one and defending silver medalist Rai Benjamin, 2022 world champion and defending bronze medalist Alison dos Santos, and 2023 world silver medalist Kyron McMaster as the athletes to watch and top favorites for the title.
