The men's triple jump of Athletics 2020 during the 2020 Summer Olympics was held on 3-5 August 2021 in the Tokyo Olympic Stadium. With 32 athletes competing, the event was won by Pedro Pichardo from Portugal, with Zhu Yaming from China taking the silver medal and Hugues Fabrice Zango from Burkina Faso taking bronze.
Format[]
The competition exists out of two separate rounds. In the qualification, each competitor gets three attempts to jump as far as possible. After three attempts, the twelve best performance advance to the final, including athletes tied for twelfth place. In the final, the qualified athletes once again get three attempts, with the eight best-placed athletes after three attempts receiving an additional three attempts to jump as far as possible. The athlete with the furthest jump after six attempts in the final wins the event.

Thirty-two athletes qualified for the event with Pedro Pichardo and Hugues Fabrice Zango as two of the favorites for the title. Pichardo was the reigning European indoor champion and won silver medals at the world championships in 2015 and 2013, with Zango winning a bronze medal at the most recent world champinoships. Will Claye was another big name in the field, having won a silver medal at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, and at the 2018 and 2017 world championships. Other medal contenders also included Andy Diaz, Zhu Yaming, Andrea Dallavalle, Yasser Mohamed Triki, and Donald Scott.
