The men's 4x400 metre relay of Athletics 2016 during the 2016 Summer Olympics was held on 19-20 August 2016 in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Stadium. With 16 teams competing, the event was won by the team from United States, with Jamaica taking the silver medal and Bahamas taking bronze.

Format[]

The competition exists out of two rounds, with each team conducting four laps of 400 metres in each round. Each athlete in a team takes part in a quarter of the race, with the fastest three teams in the heats advancing to the final, as well as the fastest non-qualifiers. The team with the fastest time in the final is the winner.
