Artistic Swimming, also known as Synchronized Swimming, is the only discipline of aquatics that is only practiced by women, and only one of two sports, with rhythmic gymnastics. It has changed its program only once, by removing a solo event that had been featured until the 1992 Summer Olympics. Russia has grown to be a dominant nation in this discipline, winning every gold medal ever since the 2000 Summer Olympics. However, Japan has won more medals, winning 4 silver and 10 bronze medals.
